About Geosmin

Geosmin is an agricultural and environmental solutions company based on the principle that healthy soil is the foundation for healthy ecosystems, healthy communities, and healthy people. “Geosmin” is the name of a naturally occurring soil compound that gives a healthy soil its characteristic smell—it is the essence of soil. Similarly, we believe that soil is the essence of life.

Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of communities, literally from the ground up. Through helping farmers manage their soil, we believe it is possible to rebuild soil and communities to a healthy and thriving state.

Meet Our Founder

The founder, Ashley Hammac, has had a lifelong passion for the natural world coupled with a love for agriculture. He has seen and worked in agro-ecosystems across the U.S. and the world. He has received three degrees in soil science—his Ph.D. from Washington State University, his M.S. from Auburn University, and his B.S. from the University of Arkansas.

Ashley believes that a person’s success is ultimately measured by how many people they help. We look forward to helping you in your journey to rebuilding your soil, and your community.
